Fried Mozzarella Recipe

These crispy cheese slices make an unusual and tasty snack. They must be cooked just before serving.

 

Ingredients

  • mozzarella cheese - 350g

  • eggs - 2

  • plain dry breadcrumbs

  • oil - for deep-frying

  • flour - seasoned with black pepper and salt

  • flat leaf parsley - to garnish

Method

  • Slice the mozzarella cheese into slices. Pat off any excess moisture with kitchen paper.

  • Heat oil to 180˚C. Beat the eggs in a bowl. Spread some seasoned flour on a plate and some breadcrumbs on another plate.

  • Press the cheese slices into the flour, coating them evenly, dip into the egg, then into the breadcrumbs.

  • Fry immediately in the hot oil until golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper. Repeat the same steps with the remaining cheese. Drain on kitchen paper.

  • Serve hot. Garnish with parsley. Serves 3.
