Pecan Nuts Pie Recipe

 

Ingredients

 

short crust pastry - 2 sheet, thawed

plain flour - 1 tbsp

pecans - 1/2 cup

eggs - 2

maple syrup - 1/2 cup

butter - 20g, melted

mixed spice - 1 tsp

brown sugar - 1/4 cup

whipped cream

 

Method

 

Preheat oven at 200˚C. Lightly grease 4x10cm round and deep loose-based flan pans.

Cut 2x15cm circles from each pastry sheet, then ease them into pans and trim edges. Chill for 15 minutes.

Prick the bases with a fork, line the pastry with baking paper and fill with pastry weight/red beans.

Bake the pastry for 10 minutes. Remove the paper and filling, and bake pastry for further 5 minutes until it crisp and golden.

Remove pastry shells to cool, reduce the oven heat to 180˚C.

Whisk together eggs, sugar, butter, syrup, mixed spice, and flour in a mixing bowl.

Arrange pecans in the pastry shells, pour the egg mixture over the pecans.

Bake for 15-20 minutes. Topped with whipped cream, serve. Makes 4.
